Sikhumbuzo has previously worked as a photographer, cleaner and a driver. All jobs required him to interact with different people daily, and for this reason, Sikhumbuzo has acquired strong communication skills and related interpersonal skills.

He learnt about Artisan Training Institute (ATI) as he was travelling from Florida to Dobsonville. He made note of the institute and inquired about it from a friend. Sikhumbuzo’s decision to be a part of ATI is influenced by its reputation and passion for quality training.

Sikhumbuzo is interested in the electrical trade because it’s a trade qualification that doesn’t just end at employment.

He believes he deserves the funding because it will help him start his career and give him the opportunity to help those that follow after him.

Sikhumbuzo shared that he is unique because he is a fast learner who follows instructions accordingly and sees himself as a highly knowledgeable artisan as well as a superior at his workplace in the next 5 years.

Katlego Celeste Camagu is a 21-year-old lady who currently resides in Soweto. She has completed her N2 in Electrical engineering at one of the colleges in the South of Johannesburg. Katlego has2 years of experience in administration. One of her strongest attributes is determination, “I take on every challenge head and I do what is required of me to accomplish my goals” she said. Katlego describes herself as a critical thinker and a problem solver. Katlego came to learn about Artisan Training Institute (ATI) from a college friend and then later from a family friend. Katlego shared that she is keen on becoming part of ATI because it is a reputable institution that strives to uplift and instills a newfound sense of personal value in every one of its graduates. Katlego is more interested in the electrical trade simply because it aligns with her career goals and is a great fit for what she studied. Katlego believes she deserves this funding because she is committed to developing a promising future in her chosen career path. She believes her risk-taking nature is what sets her apart from the rest. Katlego is excited and optimistic about her future. She sees herself handling numerous projects under one of the biggest electrical companies in South Africa.

Molatelo Legodi

Molatelo Legodi is a 29-year-old lady from Tembisa. She completed her matric in 2013. After her matric, she went to go complete her N3-N6 at a college in Ekurhuleni. She passed the following subjects: Mathematics, Engineering Sciences, Industrial electronics, Electrotechnics, Electrotechnology and Power Machines. She’s yet to complete her N6 Mathematics and N6 Electrotechnics so she can obtain her N6 qualification.

Molatelo is currently studying towards her Diploma in Small Business Management. She hopes to open a small electrical engineering company considering the level of unemployment in South Africa. She believes this qualification will make her well equipped to manage a business.

Molatelo did an internship in 2018 where some of her responsibilities included Solar System installations, issuing of quotations and tenders. After the completion of her internship, she was hired by a solar installation company where she monitored the operations and maintenance of the solar systems. In 2020 Molatelo did her NQF level 2 learnership with MSC Artisan Academy. Through this learnership, she learned how to use power tools, design, and construction of single and three-phase circuits as well as basic plumbing. During the course of her learnership, she was placed at Protea Metering for her work on integrated learning where she gained some experience in meter reading and meter installations.

Molatelo shared that through all her studies and work experience, she acquired extensive technical skills, computer skills as well as written and verbal skills. She prides herself on her ability to work well with people from diverse groups.

Molatelo came to know about Artisan Training Institute (ATI) while she was listening to Power FM. The CEO of Artisan Training Institute, Dr D Sean Jones was a guest speaker on the show, and he shared the opportunities that ATI has to offer.

Molatelo’s interest in ATI sparked when she learnt that ATI has the finest standard of technical skills training and that ATI trainees become more employable. She shared that she was impressed by all the good reviews about ATI on social media.

Molatelo believes she deserves this funding because of her strong passion for electrical engineering. She is willing to get her trade test against all odds. Molatelo highlighted that her ability to fit into confined spaces is what sets her apart from the rest.

Molatelo sees herself as a qualified electrician with a wireman license in the next 5 years. Her goal is to be employed while also furthering her studies.

Khulile Mhluzi biography

Khulile Mhluzi is a 20-year-old young man who is originally from Eastern Cape but was raised in a township called White City Jabavu. She attended a technical high school where he was given the opportunity to fully practise what he is passionate about, which is electrical engineering power systems.

Khulile describes himself as someone who is innovative, investigative, and analytical. He further added that he is a critical thinker who enjoys working in groups. She was casually browsing through the internet when he came across Artisan Training Institute (ATI). He instantly gravitated towards ATI because he found the website informative and easy to understand.

Khulile is interested in the electrical trade simply because he spent approximately 5 years studying the theoretical component of electricity. She shared that his uncle influenced him in the electrical field from a tender age.

“I believe I have something to contribute to the world out there,” said Khulile when asked why he deserves this funding.

She shared that what sets him apart is his desire to uplift his family name and the love he has for his creator.

Khulile sees himself with an electrical engineering degree within the next 5 years. He also sees himself as having innovated something for technical schools.

Tshidiso Bolele

Tshidiso Bolele is a 24-year-old young man from Braamfischerville in Soweto. Tshidiso pursued his N1-N5 in Electrical engineering after completing his matric.

Tshidiso has attended a basic theoretical and practical workshop for cable glanding in non-hazardous zones. Tshidiso describes himself as assertive with good interpersonal skills.

Tshidiso found out about Artisan Training Institute (ATI) from his Faulting Finding and Protective Devices lecturer.

Tshidiso shared that upon finding out about ATI, it became his goal to obtain his trade certificate at the prestigious institute.

Tshidiso’s interest lies in the electrical trade because it has always been his dream to work as an electrician from a tender age.

Tshidiso feels he deserves the funding because he promises to put his best foot forward and not disappoint. He says that the funding would serve as another step forward to achieving his dream.

Tshidiso says his willingness to learn is what sets him apart. Tshidiso sees himself running a successful and reputable business within the next 5 years that will be rendering electrical services. He also sees himself being involved in artificial intelligence.

I studied Electrical Engineering Nated course at Westcol FET College from N1-N6 with the incomplete subject of Electrotechnics. I am currently working at Silverstar Casino under Tsogo Sun as a Gaming Technician Assistant, maintaining slot machines and electronic equipment.

I am a highly motivated, result-orientated individual willing to go extra the mile and learn new skills.  My long-term goal involves seeing myself as an expert in my job, especially in Electrical Engineering Heavy current.

My dream of becoming an Electrical Engineer or Electrician started when I was in Grade 6 (2003) in my village primary school. When they first installed Electricity in the village, I was motivated to study Electrical Engineering because it changed my life. Studying in candlelight and cooking with wood was the biggest struggle in our community. But electricity changed all of that and made our life easier.

When I was in college, I heard about ATI (Artisan Training Institute) which is one of the best-recommended institutions in our country. It is a Technical Skills Training provider in Gauteng, a Regional centre of expertise officially, recognised by the United Nations Universities.  They are committed to better training, better skills, and better preparation for life both in the workplace and at home.

It will be such an honour to reach my childhood dream to become a qualified Electrician, with the help of the community.

I did my Electrical engineering studies in 2015.  I did N3 and N4 Electrical. I did not finish my studies because I had financial difficulties and had to find a job.

I got a job at Burger King where I started as crew but being dedicated and a hard worker I was promoted to manager. The passion to become an electrician never vanished.

My dream is to become a qualified artisan.

I always want something that will challenge me, and I believe if I get an opportunity my dream will come true.
